Abstract

The Arboretum in Wirty is the oldest botanical garden in Poland, managed by the State Forests, playing a crucial role in botanical education and nature conservation. Its rich plant collection serves research and educational purposes, enabling a better understanding of plants. Regular competitions and workshops for children and teenagers are organized here.

The history of the Arboretum dates back to the 19th century when the first foreign origin trees were planted. Thanks to these plantings, a garden of diverse character was created. Currently, it serves as an educational-recreational facility, attracting an ever wider audience.

The Arboretum also acts as a cultural center of the Kociewie region, organizing events such as the Kociewie Fair, emphasizing its engagement in the life of the local community. It stands out as a place not only with its dendrological collections but also its scientific, cultural, and educational activities.
