Abstrakt

Summary This article reviews current classifications of alcohol abuse showing gender differences among alcoholics. The most popular Cloninger´s classification and Winokur´s depressive spectrum hypothesis have been discussed. The author also presents results of a study in which a case of familial depression and familial alcoholism was investigated.
